Late Shri Nemchand Narshi Shah was born on 11th July 1927 in Nairobi but had to travel to India at a young age due to his father’s ill-health.
However, he returned to Kenya again at a very young age after his father passed away.
After a brief spell working in Nairobi, he joined Visa Oshwal Vanik Community in Mombasa as a Clerk/ Administrator.
He served them for 51 long years eventually retiring at the age of 74 years.
After retiring he joined his family in UK on the death of his wife, Late Hansaben.
Nemchandbhai and his late wife had three daughters and one son, all happily married and settled in U.K.
As Kenya was always close to his heart, he donated all his savings to help the needy people in Kenya by sponsoring the construction of a large water pan called “MAHAVIR DAM” at Rima-ra- Perra village in Bamba sub-location of Kilifi County.
On the invitation of H.R.S.C Mombasa, he travelled to Kenya, despite his failing health, with his son Nalin to ceremoniously open the MAHAVIR DAM on Sunday 7th October 2018.
Late Sri Nemchandbhai passed away peacefully on 8th February 2020.
Shri Premchand Kachra shah is a self-made up man and a philanthropist.
He was born in India and settled in Kenya.
After schooling he worked for a while with Railways before joining in their family business.
Due to his far sightedness and hard work, his business spread through East African region.
Then he started a garment manufacturing industry and later moved into Electric power cable manufacturing.
He has been very successful man throughout his career.
Premchand bhai married shanataben in Mombasa and they have three children.
Being a very socially minded person, Premchandji had joined B.S.S now called H.S.S (Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh) a world order youth organization at a very young age.
Ultimately he rose to become the Mombasa Branch Chairman, a position he held continuously for over 30 years.
He was also very successful in bringing together all the Hindu Communities under the umbrella of Hindu Council of Kenya for which he was a national trustee and committee member for many years and also served as honorary trustee for Visa Oshwal Community for over 10 years
Charity and compassion being in his heart from a very young age he has helped many needy people throughout his life.
He has also been sponsoring many needy students for their educational developments.
We are very fortunate in having him as our major donor for the full sponsorship of two water pans at Nzovuni Primary School and Paziani Primary school.
Both these dams were officially opened by him along with his family and friends on 10th January 2020.
The Late Kanji Khimji Dodhia and Late Poonraj Khimji Dodhia came from India and settled well in Kenya running a retail business.
Two of their sons also joined them in this business, but later decided to move to London for settlement.
As entire family have fond memories of Kenya, they decided to sponsor one of large water pans at Mitangani Secondary School in Bamba Sub-location of the Kilifi County in memory of Late Kanji Khimji Dodhia and Late Poonraj Khimji Dodhia.
This dam was named Dodhia Dam after their family name.
Shantibhai Poonraj Shah and Shila Shantilal Shah specially came from U.K. With a large group of family members, relatives and friends and they performed the grand opening ceremony of this Dodhia Dam on 17th March 2019.
